This wetland was part of a larger property that is now the Illahee community, but prior to development of new homes, it had many uses. According to Virginia Jorgensen (a previous property owner), the area was originally forested and was owned by an “old timer” who used the property for Boy Scout camps. The Jorgensen family purchased the property in 1978 and converted it to a private farm (Triple J Farms) consisting of mostly open, grassy pasture. Over the next 25 years they raised goats, burros, donkeys, a pony, emus, cows, pigs, rabbits and sheep on their farm.
