Progress on the new trail is going well. Thanks to help from fellow stewards, about 1/3 of the trail has now been laid down. Cardboard goes underneath to prevent the reed canary grass from growing through and taking over the trail. The mulch is coming from a leftover pile that was abandoned, probably from a previous ChipDrop.
This area is in what's called the "100 year flood zone" for Llama Lake, and my hopes are to convert this area into a microforest will lots of diverse native shrubs and trees that will help the native insect and bird populations thrive.
